Mrs. Corrin Owens is our new Red Devil counselor. Before coming to Springville High, Owens was a counselor for three years at Mapleton Jr. High. Owens wants to help every student reach their maximum potential.
Owens reflected on the rewards of being a counselor, “I think seeing students grow and change is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a counselor; watching a student overcome and succeed,” said Owens.
The beginning of the school year is a time to welcome in new students and teachers. Springville is excited to welcome Ms. Madeline Vest into the English Department.
Vest worked at Polaris High School in Alpine School District last year. However, teaching English isn’t her most unusual job--Vest worked as a mixologist at Sodalicious.
“My vision for my classroom at Springville High is that it is a place where all my students feel comfortable, supported, and capable of success,” said Vest.
Springville High has begun and we have welcomed a lot of students and new teachers, we are excited to welcome Mr. Jake Coleman to the Music Department. This is the beginning of Coleman’s third year of public school teaching and his 16th year of music teaching. Coleman taught at Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah, and at Rockwell Charter High school. Coleman teaches Guitar.
Camille Callister is one of our new English teachers here at Springville High. This is her first year teaching; however, last year she was an intern at Spanish Fork High. Callister teaches sophomores and juniors, English 10 and 11.
“My vision is to create a classroom where my students feel safe, in an atmosphere that allows them to learn at the highest levels possible,” said Callister.
Callister is truly a Red Devil, “I graduated from Springville High School in 1981, and it feels good to be "home" again!”
Parent-Teacher Conference will be held on Wednesday, 9/20/17 from 4:00 - 8:00pm. Teachers will be in the main gym and the cafeteria. The finance office will also be open if you would like to pay any school fees.
On Thursday, September 14, Springville High’s Lady Red Devils had a big, 3-2, win at home over local Maple Mountain. Also, last week the Red Devils brought home a road win, 3-2, against Timpview.
“The season has been going well so far. The girls are working well together and there is lots of learning going on. We are excited about what the rest of the season holds and the growth individually and as a team unit,” said Head Coach Elle Williams.
