Veterans Celebration

All week, Springville High students, faculty, and staff are celebrating and recognizing our Veterans.  FFA club and Student Government have organized activities for the week starting with a poem contest won by Sarah Emmett.  Tuesday morning the FFA club and student government hosted a Veteran’s breakfast and assembly “Honoring All Who Served.”   SHS Marching Band performed at the assembly, including a moment of silence with a “Taps” solo.   Aspen Lamber, Bailey Bird, and Elise Willmore wrote and performed an original Veterans Day song.

Undefeated and Unfazed

On Friday, October 6, Springville High’s varsity football team took on Murray High in the state 4A quarterfinals. The game ended in defeat for Murray when they weren’t able to score a single point, ending in Springville shutting out Murray, 35-0.  Springville advances to the semifinals.  Springville kept their unchanged record and are still undefeated.

Lady Red Devils knock off local rival Golden Eagles

On Thursday, October 1, Springville High’s Lady Red Devil varsity volleyball team hosted local rival Maple Mountain Golden Eagles ending in a Red Devil victory, 3-1.

Amanda Schultz had 17 kills and 14 digs while Cassidy Bowers added 19 digs as Springville knocked off Maple Mountain in four sets. Courtney Mackay also contributed 36 assists while Carmen Payne had 13 digs for the home team.

Red Devils Win First Annual UIAAA Invite

The cross country team traveled to Spanish Fork to participate in the first annual UIAAA (Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association) Invitational on September 18.  The Lady Red Devils cross country team took second place, first in the 4A state division and region being led by Junior Julie Sumsion.  The Red Devil boys team ended up winning the meet led by Freshman sensation Grant Gardner.  This is the first time that the boys have won a meet in a long time and same goes for the girls.  The team had eight individual medalists; at least one top finisher per r
