Lady Red Devils finish season in 2nd place after state championship game

Bountiful secured its first girls state championship since 2001 with a 63-42 win over Springville on Saturday, February 27.  Bountiful’s Kennedy Redding led the way with a game-high 28 points and 21 rebounds for the Braves.  Springville’s Lydia Austin had 14 points with Savannah Sumsion adding 12 points in the loss.

Springville etches victory; launched into championship

The second-ranked Lady Red Devils came back from a 15-point deficit to edge the top-ranked Alta in the 4A semifinals, 50-49.  The win means Springville will face third-ranked Bountiful in the championship game.   Game played at Salt Lake Community College on Friday, February 26.

Lady Red Devils decisive quarterfinal win

On Wednesday, February 24, Springville’s varsity girls’ basketball was victorious against Judge Memorial, 57-46, at Salt Lake Community College in state quarterfinal play, advancing the Lady Red Devils to the semifinals in which they will face Alta on Friday, February 26.

Junior Cheyanne Brown was called off the bench to defend the Bulldog’s center and stepped up to challenge to contribute to the win.  Lydia Austin led with 20 points, Ali Monson added 10 points, and Savannah Sumsion had a big rebound night, catching 13.

Springville advances to state quarterfinals

After Timpanogos cut its deficit to just three points with four minutes remaining, Springville’s Lady Red Devils came alive and outscored the visitors by 12 in the final minutes to double up the Timberwolves 18-6 in the fourth and secure the first-round victory, 65-50.   Lydia Austin led all scorers with 22 points and Olivia Park added 13 to lock down the win.  Angel Tuisavura led the Lady Timberwolves with 19 points.   Game played on Monday, February 22.

Lady Red Devils, huge victory over Maple Mountain

On Tuesday, February 16, Springville High’s Lady Red Devils took back a win from the Lady Golden Eagles in a big win, 63-48.   After the game, Springville was awarded the region championship.

Lydia Austin torched the visitors for a game-high 21 points while Cheyenne Brown added 17 more to power Springville past Maple Mountain.  Lady Golden Eagles Nicole Heyn and MiKayla Hubbard both recorded double-doubles and combined for 30 points and 30 rebounds in the loss.
