Junior Girls Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program

Junior Girls Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program: This is national scholarship, leadership, and life skills program for Distinguished Young Women. It is for any Junior girl in high school.  It is free to participate. Last year they awarded 2,200 cash scholarships to colleges of choice to girls from South Utah County. The Deadline is February 9th. They would love to see more of these Junior class girls take this opportunity to showcase their talents, academics, and achievements. 

Swim takes 2nd at Region 8 Championships

Travis Pope& Kim Green

Red Devil Swimming had an excellent Region Championship Meet. The Men's and Women's  teams both placed second overall. We had a number of high finishers along with being named Region Champs in 8 of the 22 total events.

Nicole Pope won the 500 Freestyle
Cameron Green won the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke
Braxton Armstrong won the 100 Butterfly
Alex Lanier won the 100 Breaststroke
Boys won
200 Medley Relay (Cameron Green, Alex Lanier, Zach Jones, and Jordan Pugmire)
200 Freestyle Relay (Alex Lanier, Mark Mabry, Jordan Pugmire, Braxton Armstrong)
400 Freestyle Relay (Cameron Green, Zach Jones, Braxton Armstrong, Mark Mabry)
Both Men's and Women's teams will compete at the State Championship on February 8th and 9th at BYU.

Junior ACT test

On Tuesday, February 26th, Juniors will be taking the ACT at school. Now is great time to start preparing! There are several free practice tests and websites with helpful resources listed on the Testing Page of our Counseling Website. Shmoop is a wonderful resource, students can use the magic word HIKING for free practice tests.


Attention Seniors: Scholarship Information

Have you been awarded a scholarship? We want to know about it. Even if you decide not to accept the scholarship, let us know by using the Scholarship Reporting Form so that we can recognize you at our Senior Award Assembly. There are several Keys to Success Scholarships that are due by Feburary 15th, make sure you get your applications in! Check out our Scholarship spreadsheet for more local scholarship opportunities.

Senior Yearbook Ads

You can now purchase a Senior Ad for your SHS student to be published in the 2018-19 yearbook. Early deadline is 11:59 pm Jan 31st and the price is $30. The last day to purchase is Feb 7th at 11:59 for $50. Fees can be paid online at To submit your ad fill out this form- where you can upload your text and photograph. This needs to be done before the deadline.

Mr. Springville

Next week is Mr. Springville Week!  Come join us and watch some of our Senior boys compete in fun activities for the chance to represent Springville High School this year. 

Tuesday:  Auditorium @ Lunch-Cake Day, Student Body votes on winning cake 
Wednesday:  Auditorium @ Lunch- Leg Day, Student Body votes favorite Leg decorations
Thursday:  Trophy Hall @ Lunch- Hot Dog Eating Contest for Mr. Springville Contestants 
Saturday:  Auditorium @ 7p.m.- Mr. Springville Pageant.  $5 a person 

Girls and Boys State at Weber State University

ALA Utah Girls and Boys State is a week long program created with the purpose of educating Utah youth about their duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of  citizenship. Attending will give you three Political Science credits from Weber State University and count as your U.S. Government class as a senior. Girls State will be held June 3-8 and Boys State will be held June 10-14 @ Weber State University. Contact your counselor or visit and for more information.
