2015 Valedictorian & Co-Salutatorians

Congratulations to Ian Taylor for being named as the 2015 Springville High Valedictorian.  Congratulations to Rebecca Morrison and Cassidy Erickson for being named as Springville High’s Co-Salutatorians for 2015.

These outstanding seniors will be speakers at the Class of 2015 Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, May 27, at Utah Valley University UCCU Events Center.

Lady Red Devil varsity softball finish 3rd in state

On Thursday, May 21, Springville’s varsity softball team played in the 4A one-loss semifinal bracket against local rival Maple Mountain.  Maple Mountain centerfielder Ellie Anderson made a spectacular catch to rob Springville's Natalie Sumsion of what would have been a game-winning home run. The 2-1 victory allowed the Golden Eagles to play region rival Spanish Fork in the 4A championship game.  Springville finishes 3rd in 4A state girls softball.

Lady Red Devils lose to Dons in 4A semifinals

On Thursday, May 21, the Lady Dons overcame their region rival, Springville Lady Red Devils, in the 4A semifinals.  Spanish Fork’s Kenzi Branch hit two two-run home runs to give the Dons plenty of cushion in their victory over Springville, 7-1.  Spanish Fork’s teammate Taylor Miller also hit a home run, and Springville's only run came from Brittany Simpson.

On Thursday, May 23, Springville High held its annual Spring Showcase.  Students displayed their work in art, sewing, cabinetry, welding, etc.  Various groups performed including choir, band, orchestra, dance company, etc.

SHS Band Performed at State Band Festival


Congratulations to Springville High School's band. On Saturday, May 2, 2015, the Springville High Symphonic Band performed at the State Band Festival sponsored by the Utah Music Educators Association.  To qualify for the state festival, bands were required to receive straight superior ratings at their Region Assessments (Festivals). The Band Director at Springville High School is Ben Major.

Lady Red Devils beat the Golden Eagles in 4A Winners Bracket

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, the Springville Varsity Softball team squared off against local Maple Mountain in state playoffs beating the Golden Eagles, 3-2.

Rylee Harris hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Lady Red Devils a win against region rival Maple Mountain.  Junior pitcher Kaycie Jensen finished with 16 strike outs.

Daily Herald Educator of the Week: Angie Meacham

Educator of the Week Angie Meacham is a business teacher and student council adviser at Springville High School.

“I love working with the high school students at SHS,” she said. “We have a great school and great students [who] have truly touched my life in many different ways.”

Meacham said she loves working with the student leaders of the school as she oversees a lot of their activities and assemblies.

“I love ... seeing what they can accomplish and create for their peers,” she said. “Teaching isn't always easy and can be very time consuming with extracurricular activities but seeing the smiles on your students’ faces and getting to know them and the great kids that they are makes it all worth it.”

Meacham graduated from Utah State University and is looked to as a leader at her school. In her spare time, she volunteers at community events.
