Mrs. Denis shared a fairy tale with her morning ML English class about the importance of kindness. "The Shoemaker and the Elves" highlights the happiness that comes from helping each other. To finish off their Christmas week, Mrs. Denis's students made candy cane elves.

SHS Swim team competed in the Timpview Invitational swim meet on January 3-4th. Women’s team ended up 3rd out of 8 teams Aulia Leauanae (9th Grader at the Junior High) was 3rd place for overall high point score. She also broke the meet record in the 100 back. She also lowered her own SHS school record in the 100 back (she broke the record earlier this season) and she broke the SHS school record for the 200 free which was set back in 2015! Congratulations!!

Raymundo Yazzie visited Mrs. Denis's morning ML English class to share the importance of maintaining and embracing one's culture and language while trying to adapt to new ones. He shared the resilience that comes through practicing customs and having a community. His experiences were so helpful as Mrs. Denis kick started a unit on Native American Children's Literature. He shared his son's regalia with us to teach us about the importance of passing along such special traditions.
