Congratulations to the April Students of the month! These students have been nominated by faculty from the Foreign Languages/Family and Consumer Sciences Departments.
Tadeo Rodriguez Flores, nominated by Mrs Nava-Zapien. "Tadeo is an incredible student! He consistently maintains a positive attitude, even when learning English feels challenging or confusing. He pushes himself to practice both in and out of the classroom and encourages his peers to do the same, especially when they feel self-conscious. His determination and uplifting spirit make him a joy to have in class."
Kelsie Nielson, nominated by Mrs. Olson. "She always has a positive attitude in class and works hard to include others around her. Her kindness is an example to everyone, including myself. There is a void in the classroom when she is not here and I want her to know that she is an essential part ot our class for so many reasons."
Fernando Maciel Aguayo, nominated by Mr. Weech. "Fernando is such a pleasure to have in class! He works well with everyone and is always on task. I love reading every single one of his essays and stories in Spanish. He goes above and beyond by including a lot of figurative language and even illustrates his stories with amazing art. As a Heritage Learner of Spanish who grew up writing and reading more in English, he truly strives to improve his literacy skills and embrace the language of his culture."
Priya Heaton, nominated by Mrs. Kelly. "Pryia is an excellent student! She comes to class with a great attitude and friendly nature. She complete assignments in a timely manner, and then helps other students who may be struggling. Priya demonstrates natural teaching abilities in the preschool. She plans great lessons and is very patient with the children. They love her!"
Logan Palmer, nominated by Mrs. Brough. "Logan Palmer is an outstanding student, he is so positive. When classmates are presenting, and he can sense their anxiety he starts getting the class energy up by clapping (in ASL ), foot stomps(ASL culture for getting attention through sound vibrations) and other fun cheers. He's a great class leader. He also takes the time to help classmates who are struggling in the target language. He scored intermediate High on his seal of biliteracy. He has a great signing accent. He also helps with ASL club, and has a positive impact on so many of his peers and teachers here at SHS. "
Kaitlyn Sedgwick, nominated by Ms. Yuan. "I have been teaching her for 3 years now and she showed up for every lessons, collaborate with classmates, participate in all language fairs, being responsible for all the assignments and working hard all the time. She is shy but I can see how she is more open to jump out her comfort zone and more confidence now .She is definitely a good model of all students."
Sage Cisemos, nominated Mrs. Kelly. "Over the past three years, I have watched Sage grow and develop into an outstanding student. She has become a leader in ECE classroom, and works hard to complete assignments and turn in quality work. Sage is an example in the preschool as a prepared preschool teacher who puts in extra effort to create fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons for the children. She is willing to jump in and help wherever needed, and plans ahead She has developed skills that will definitely benefit her in the future no matter what path she chooses."
