Congratulations to the following Red Devils for being chosen as Students of the Month. They were nominated by faculty in the English Department.
Zachary Broderick, nominated by Mrs. Callister. "Zach is an exceptional student, and always does his very best. He is highly motivated, participates in class discussions, has amazing critical thinking skills, and is kind and helpful to his fellow students. He has a great imagination, and always goes the extra mile on projects. He is respectful and polite to me and those in his work group. Zach is the kind of student that makes teaching worthwhile."
Ashely Rodriquez, nominated by Mrs. Downs. "Ashley has worked so hard in English and tries her best. Not only that but she helps her classmate that needs help as well. She is kind and always has a smile or positive. She is respectful in class, and her work always shows that she is engaged and learning!"
Jay Langholf, nominated by Mrs. Jones. "Jay is exemplary not only as a student but as a person. Jay works extremely hard to overcome any challenges and does so with respect and care. I am always impressed by Jay's hard work and good attitude. I am so grateful to know such a hardworking and intelligent person and have them in my class."
Dowawisnima Groves, nominated by Mrs. Olsen. "Nima was the first student who came to mind when we were asked to nominate a student of the month. I teach many amazing students, but Nima stands out from the crowd, and not just because she is an A student. She has a fun, outgoing personality that automatically uplifts those around her. Nima never EVER complains. She sees the work we do in English as the learning opportunity that it is, and she takes full advantage of it. She doesn’t just “participate” in class discussions, she takes them to the next level. Her thoughts and ideas propel our discussions to the next level. She is also super polite and kind. Nima is the ideal student whom every teacher wishes they could duplicate and keep year after year, and she has most definitely earned this honor!"
Spencer Averett, nominated by Ms. Daniels. "Spencer is an absolute delight! I appreciate his intellect and consistent work ethic, but most importantly, he's kind and polite and I know when I'm in front of the class, I can count on him to be paying attention and actively engaged. It's nice to look out at a smiling, kind face that reminds me of why I love to teach. Spencer is an important part of having a positive classroom environment that everyone benefits from, and I wish I had a dozen more just like him!
Grace Wilson, nominated by Mrs. Richins. "Grace Wilson is an exceptional student who brings both competence and kindness to the classroom. She consistently does her best work, and she values teacher feedback, always using it to improve. Her positive attitude and approachable demeanor make her a great collaborator, and she naturally fosters a supportive environment among her classmates. In a challenging course like English 2010, Grace not only excels but also helps those around her succeed. She’s an absolute joy to have in class!"
Abi Young, nominated by Mrs. Cottle. "Abi has become an avid reader this year after finding a series of novels that she's interested in and enjoys. I'm so proud of her level of engagement with the novel we're reading in class and how she excitedly participates in classroom discussions. She shares interesting and thoughtful contemplations and isn't afraid to really dig in and talk about themes and ideas that come to light in our reading. She's a delightful presence in class, always happy and engaged."
