For this ALC student design project, the purpose was to enhance students' engineering design skills through computer-aided design (CAD) software. Students were challenged to fully design, model and create functioning electric desk lamps. Students creativity exceeded expectations impressing not only their teacher Mr. Barlow, but also a visiting manufacturing engineering professor, Dr. Michael Miles, from Brigham Young University (BYU). Excellent work, ALC Advanced CAD!

Due to the ACT testing and the half day schedule.

The annual Educators Rising State Competition went awesome today! Nebo students represented us so well! Thank you for all of your support! Well done to all of our future teachers!

We are thrilled to share an exciting project undertaken by our ALC Carpentry class! The Career and Technical Education (CTE) office of the Nebo School District reached out to our talented students for a special task: designing and constructing a storage shed for the Spanish Fork High School Early Childhood Development class.
This wasn't just any shed. The requirement was unique—it needed to be constructed in a way that allowed it to be taken apart at the seams. This feature was essential for transporting the shed on a trailer, ensuring it could be easily moved and then reassembled to serve its purpose on the playground at Spanish Fork High.

Mental Health Screener March 10th

We love having our students here at The Advanced Learning Center every day! It's a joy to see their smiling faces and watch them grow and learn in our community.
To show some extra love, our administration team made Valentine's Day special by handing out treats to all the students. These delightful surprises were a small gesture to brighten their days and let them know how much they are appreciated. We hope your children enjoyed this small token of appreciation as much as we enjoyed preparing it for them.

The ALC recently hosted a MTECH Career Night focusing on Service/Technology, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, and Computer Programs. We are delighted to report that the event was a HUGE success! There was a fantastic turnout, and a wealth of information was shared with attendees. It was heartening to see so many engaged participants eager to learn about various career paths and opportunities available through MTECH.
We extend our gratitude to all who attended, as well as our dedicated staff and partners who made this event possible. Your enthusiasm and participation are what make our events thrive.

Nebo Education Foundation awarded more grants to classroom teachers to enhance student learning. Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Hartvigsen for receiving a Nebo Foundation Grant! Thank you to ALL teachers for your hard work on behalf of students!

Future Focus Friday: Stand Out in Today's Job Market -
Want to be a top pick for jobs? Focus on your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). These include good communication, getting along with others, and staying positive. Employers love these traits!
A study by Deloitte shows more companies prefer hiring based on skills, not just job titles. In fact, 90% of bosses and 66% of workers like this idea. Companies using this approach often see better results.
By building a strong knowledge base, gaining various skills, and having the right attitude, you can succeed in your career. Improve your KSAs to stand out and find better job opportunities.

We are thrilled to highlight Mrs. Suzette Hartvigsen as this week's Teacher Feature! Mrs. Hartvigsen is a cornerstone of our Health Science department here at the Advanced Learning Center. Her extensive knowledge and experience have greatly enriched our program.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs. Hartvigsen as part of our team. Her dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed, and we appreciate everything she does for our students.

Imagine stepping into the role of a real forensic scientist, analyzing mysterious substances to uncover the truth!
In this hands-on lab in Medical Forensics, students conduct a color test to determine which unknown powder contains a drug. Using positive and negative controls—just like professionals do in crime labs—students compare chemical reactions to identify the presence of a substance. With four different powders to test, keen observation skills and scientific reasoning will be the key to cracking the case.
Will students discover an illegal drug, or will the substances be harmless?

Future Focus Friday is Here! Watch for an informative post each Friday from the Nebo College and Career Center. Insightful tips to help you as a student, prepare for your future.
