This December Springville High’s DECA club organized a “Santa letters” service project. DECA students visited elementary schools in Springville and decided to be Santa’s Elves. This was a good way to get all the SHS clubs involved; DECA reached out to every elementary school in Springville and the response was astonishing. The club ended up with over 800 letters to respond to so DECA club members had to act fast.
LIA served as volunteers in a Christmas/dinner party for the United Angels Foundation. In addition, LIA students from SJHS and SHS collected 2,289 letters to Santa for Macy's "Believe" program. Macy's donated $2 per letter to the Make A Wish Foundation. That is a contribution of approximately $4,600. The money is used to grant wishes to children with terminal illnesses

This week we received the opportunity to interview and get to know our new U.S. Studies/Government teacher Mrs. Kara Hernandez. She is very happy to be here at Springville High. She attended Brigham Young University before she came to teach at SHS. She wants to help create a positive and fun learning environment for each of her students. Hernandez hopes that students will leave her classroom with a clear understanding of why History/Government is important and also learn values of how to be successful outside school.
