On Friday, October 6, Springville High’s varsity football team took on Murray High in the state 4A quarterfinals. The game ended in defeat for Murray when they weren’t able to score a single point, ending in Springville shutting out Murray, 35-0. Springville advances to the semifinals. Springville kept their unchanged record and are still undefeated.
After a slow start, the Red Devils exploded for 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead, and didn't look back en route to the victory over Murray. Devyn Tate ran for a 70-yard TD, and Brennen Rymer contributed a pick 6 in the win.
Next week Springville will travel to Rice Eccles stadium to play East High’s football team in the state semifinal matchup. Springville (11-0) is paired with East (9-2), in the class 4A semifinals this Thursday, November 12. The question on everyone’s mind is will they come out on top.
