Rachel Hatch, our English Sterling Scholar, has had two of her poems accepted for publication by Southern Quill

One of the poems is a villanelle and the other is a pantoum.  These formats are more complicated than free verse poems which make them inherently harder to publish.

Hatch says, “She prefers to write in reality, not fantasy.”

“I'm exceptionally proud of her,” said her Creative Writing teacher, Mrs. Joanna Ellsworth.

Hatch will attend Brigham Young University this Fall and plans on majoring in Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry.   We’re sure she’ll have no trouble mixing her chemical compositions and words together to create some magic.
