Nima Groves

Nima Groves, a sophomore at Springville High School, has been selected as the 2024 Dreamstarter for Running Strong. Running Strong For American Indian Youth Organization, founded by Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota Sioux, and the 1964 Olympic Gold medalist, is a national organization that supports community service projects. This organization is dedicated to empowering and supporting Native American youth nationwide. Since 2015, Running Strong has cultivated a network of 90 Native youth leaders who are part of the Dreamstarter Academy.

At the beginning of the year, Nima collaborated with the Nebo Title VI Program to create a grant proposal focused on re-establishing the connection of Native American Youth with their cultural heritage. Nima's initiative includes implementing activities like beading, regalia making, music, and dance within the Nebo Title VI Program, providing a platform for Native American Youth to express their stories through art.

Title VI Staff are proud of Nima Groves and her remarkable achievement. She becomes the second student from Springville High School to be honored with this grant, following the footsteps of Sara Powell, the Dreamstarter for 2023-2024. Only ten Dreamstarters were selected across the United States. Learn more about Nima's project here.
