Tara Jacobson is new to Springville High and works in our finance office.  She enjoys exploring mountain trails, avoiding housework, keeping the high record at Whack-a-Mole, and riding her semi-recumbent senior citizen’s bicycle. Jacobson has been married for 16 years and has three children, her oldest to be joining us here at SHS next Fall.

Jacobson graduated from Southern Utah University in 1997, majoring in Spanish.

Girls Tennis Team player Savannah Cochran said, “I was in the region tournament, and I felt like our team played great.”

Katie Petersen plays 2nd Varsity Doubles. She responds on how she wants to improve her skills.

Petersen said, “Probably my round game and maybe signals.”

“As a team we are doing super well; we took region and went to state,” said Petersen.

Congratulations to the Red Devil Boys Cross Country team for taking first place in state competition; an amazing accomplishment.  The Girls Cross Country team had a great showing with a 4th place state finish overall.

On Friday, October 13, Springville's Lady Red Devils varsity volleyball hosted the Wasatch Wasps.

On Saturday, October 14, Hope Squad sponsored the "Teen Beach" themed Sadie Hawkins dance.

To end our summer, Springville FFA invited other area FFA chapters to join them for local Agriculture tours and a little friendly, competitive softball tournament. We were excited to host Payson, Spanish Fork, as well as North and South Summit chapters.

On the morning of September 11, Springville FFA Members, ages ranging from 14-18, attended the Utah State Fair. At the State Fair, there are many agriculture learning opportunities; such as: Dairy cattle show, beef cattle show, and many farm animals to learn about.

On October 10, members from the Springville FFA participated at Snow College for judging competitions. Members of the FFA chapter participated in the following competitions: Agronomy, Floriculture, Horse, Dairy Cattle, Veterinary Science. and Livestock.
