There are several options for make-up credit:
Academic Achievement Center
The AAC is a credit recovery program held at SHS for SHS and SJHS 9th grade students. It allows a student to earn credit in a failed core class. This is and independent study-style program with a supervised component to it as well. The program's requirements and stipulations are: Time: Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 to 4:00pm. Place: E-3. Cost: $30 per quarter credit.
Students wishing to remediate a failed course must first visit their counselor. The counselor will list the failed courses available to make up in the AAC. The student will then pay the $30 fee to the SHS Finance Office and deliver a copy of the receipt to Mrs. Cranford when they are ready to begin the program. STUDENTS MAY NOT BEGIN THE AAC UNTIL THEY HAVE MET WITH A COUNSELOR AND THE REGISTRATION FEE IS PAID.
Landmark Night-School
Contact your student's counselor. The counselor will fill out a form and you will need to take that form to Landmark school in Spanish Fork in order to enroll your student in the night school program. There is a $25 fee for each .25 credit that needs to be made up. Only core classes can be remediated through Landmark Night-School.
BYU Independent Study
BYU offers several courses to high school students who need to make up work. These courses are generally divided into semesters, so if your student only needs .25 credits, he/she will have to complete the entire semester course. In order to register for BYU Independent Study, log on to http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/index.dhtm . Courses can be either paper/pencil format or on-line and are usually $90 for a semester course. BYU Independent Study courses can also be taken for "get ahead" credit.
Electronic High School
In order to enroll your student in the Electronic High School log onto www.ehs.uen.org . There is generally a two to three day lag time from the time you register your student until your student can start classes. EHS is on-line and free. Generally, 40-50 hours of seat time is required to complete .25 credit. EHS courses can also be taken for "get ahead" credit.
