Essential Understandings: Art Foundations I
Concurrent Enrollment Credit
- Students will learn and apply the six Basic Art Principles (balance, emphasis, variety, proportion, unity, and perspective).
- Students will learn and apply the six Plastic Elements of artistic expression (line value, color, texture, size, and shape).
- Students will practice various drawing techniques and develop their seeing skills.
- Students will experience a variety of approaches in creating art (naturalistic, abstract, conceptual, and design).
Art Foundations II
(Advanced Art)
- Students will practice their drawing skills through participating in a 15 to 30 minute drawing exercise each class period.
- Students will build upon their abilities and understanding of the art principles and the plastic elements through various assignments.
- Students will have an opportunity to experience and explore the following art forms: Scratch board, watercolor, clay, and drawing with pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, and pastel.
