SHS Boys’ Swim Team - claimed 2nd Place State Championship Trophy - 308 points
SHS Girls’ Swim Team - placed 4th overall in State - 187 points
Our boys really stepped it up, giving it everything they had and were in the lead by 40 points with only three events to go ... sadly, Mountain Crest had those two events well-stacked. Phenom Jake Taylor posted a Junior Nationals time for a 1st place win in the 100 Breast while his teammate grabbed 1st in the 100 Back, and so it all came down to the last event - the 400 Free Relay for the State Championship victory. We dove in and led the race through all three legs up until the turn on the last leg and were then out touched by MC's Superstar JT for the win.
However, our boys' relay left it all in the pool and posted a new SHS 400 Free Relay record time of 3:15.99. Our girls did a fantastic job with just seven state qualifiers competing to improve their standings from 5th up to 4th place overall and thrilling fans with their own 2nd place 400 Free Relay performance. Most satisfying of all was having their more than deserving Coach Amyee Hargett be recognized and honored as the 2010 4A Male Swim Team Coach of the Year! On behalf of the team, thank you for your interest and support -- Congrats to ALL of our Mighty Red Devil Swimmers and Coaches!!
