On Friday, January 20, 2017, the SHS Welding Department hosted the Nebo Welding Invitational. This is a contest for high school welding students from the five high school in the district. Fifteen students, three from each school, competed in the “widget” building contest. A “widget” is a basic design that incorporates all of the welding processes and positions that the students learn during their welding classes.

A new contest was added to the Invitational this year, due to the size of the shop here at SHS. This new contest is called the fabrication contest. This allowed an additional fifteen students to compete. A team of three students from each school were given a set of blueprints and the raw materials to build a project. The project that was built was a set of ATV ramps. These ramps are going to be donated to the Springville FFA to be sold at their livestock/booster auction.
