Darwin Deming, is our new multi-science teacher who loves his family. He wants to not only teach, but to also help students gain lifelong skills in science.

Deming teaches Astronomy, Geology, Environmental Science, and Physics with Technology. Deming has 11 years of teaching experience. Previously Deming taught at Union Middle School in Sandy, and at Mount Nebo Jr. High in Payson.

Deming’s teaching vision is, “It is my hope to help students gain the lifelong skills that are taught in a science class, such as critical thinking, problem solving, etc.  Additionally, I want to provide extracurricular opportunities for students that they otherwise wouldn't get in a typical classroom routine,” said Deming.

Deming reflected on student success, “To see students understand concepts that are difficult for them to comprehend is by far the most rewarding aspect of teaching.  The moment a student says, "Oh, I get it!" is a major victory,” said Deming.

Deming also loves to talk about his family, “I am married to Kiara, an outstanding woman who is a wonderful wife and mother.”  They have three children Aurora (6), Savannah (4), and Talmage (1).

“We enjoy watching movies together as a family, having picnics, and playing on the playground.  I also enjoy beekeeping, and the worst sting I've had has been on my eyelid,” said Deming.

Deming’s most unusual job didn’t last long.  “I took a job for a guy that wanted to design online courses for high school students to get credits for a GED.  He wanted me to work in his basement on his computers.  Awkwardly, his family would also be downstairs in their pajamas and occasionally left dirty dishes around the computer I was assigned to work at.  Needless to say, that job didn't last long,” said Deming.
